Toronto releases locations of new automated speed cameras coming in May

Fifty new automated speed cameras are coming to a Toronto street near you.

The city announced 50 of these cameras will begin rotating to the third round of locations in May to “reduce speeding at more areas with safety concerns.”

Warning signs have been installed at the new locations to warn drivers in advance, the city says.

The next 50 ASE locations are:

Mayor John Tory says the locations were selected based on analysis collected through the city’s ASE system, where speed and collision challenges exist near schools.

“The data we have so far proves that Automated Speed Enforcement is a strong deterrent against speeding, and we will continue to rotate speed cameras in the city to cover as many areas as possible,” said Tory.

“All new locations have been selected following a data-driven approach that prioritizes areas in the city with speed and collision challenges. This is just one part of our ongoing Vison Zero traffic safety work – which includes road redesigns, lower speed limits, and increased enforcement – to make our streets safer for everyone.”

On Monday it was revealed that a street in Mimico is the most ticketed road for speeders in Toronto.

New photo radar figures showed the camera on Stanley Avenue, just off Royal York Road, issued nearly 2,900, or 13 percent of all, tickets in December.

The worst repeat offender got 15 tickets for speeding there, as well as on Mimico Avenue.
