Peel police say two women are dead and six others have been taken to hospital following a head-on crash in Mississauga Thursday morning.

Officers say two vehicles crashed on McLaughlin Road, south of HWY 407, just after 7 a.m.

Constable Bancroft Wright tells 680 NEWS there were five people in one vehicle and three in another.

“Two people were taken to trauma and another two were taken to a local hospital. There was one deceased from that vehicle,” Wright says.

“The second vehicle had three individuals involved. Two were taken to a trauma centre in Toronto, one deceased.”

Wright says there has yet to be an update on the severity of the injuries.

The cause of the crash is unclear at this time but Wright says the initial thought is that it was a head-on collision.
