3rd suspect arrested in daylight Beaches shooting

By News Staff

A third person has been arrested after two men were shot in a brazen daylight shooting in the Beaches earlier this month.

On Jan. 6, police were called to the area of Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue around 2:30 p.m. when two men were shot while sitting in a car.

It was reported that an Audi was stopped at a red light when a black Mercedes came to a stop behind it and a suspect got out. The suspect allegedly approached the passenger side of the Audi and began shooting, hitting the two men inside.

The suspect then ran southbound into a residential area.

The driver of the Audi fled the area before coming to a stop on Queen Street, just west of Woodbine. The shooting victims were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes sped off and became involved in a crash on Queen, east of Woodbine. Four males inside the vehicle ran away, but police arrested two of them shortly thereafter.

Rodrigues Sendia, 20, and Ajmain Rahman, 21, both of Toronto, are already facing five charges related to the incident.

On Friday, John Okoro, 23, of Toronto, was arrested in Barrie on an unrelated matter and is now facing nine charges including attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

There has been no word on a possible motive for the shooting.

Police continue to investigate.
