By News Staff

Charges have been laid against a 35-year-old Toronto man after a little girl was allegedly snatched from her mother’s house in Aurora early Monday morning by her father.

The incident sparked an Amber Alert.

It’s alleged that just before 4:30 a.m. the man forced his way into the home and took his four-year-old daughter without consent.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the woman and fled with his daughter in a vehicle.

Officers spotted the man’s vehicle about five hours later near Bancroft, Ont., and tried to stop it several times before calling off the chase.

The vehicle was later found rolled over in Pembroke, Ont., and police said the girl was airlifted to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect has been charged with abduction, break and enter and two counts of assault.

He remains in hospital with minor injuries.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Integrated Domestic Violence Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 2480.
