About Asher

Asher grew up in midtown Toronto and began his broadcasting career as a toddler, borrowing his aunt and uncle’s video camera and documenting family gatherings. After studying Journalism at Carleton University in Ottawa, and a series of odd jobs, including stops at coffee shops, grocery stores, and even in construction, he got his start in radio at 105.9 The Region, as an anchor, reporter, and contributor to the station’s weekly magazine show. He then spent a year doing updates on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, before heading across the hall to 680 News. Asher has spent more than a decade covering minor league sports, as a host, Play-by-Play Commentator and PA Announcer, and worked at TSN as a writer and archivist. Fun facts: He knows way too much about transit, he was in a youth bowling league for 13 years. And no, he’s not THAT Asher Roth.
