Pedestrian to be charged after being struck by vehicle in Rexdale

A pedestrian is facing a charge of failing to use a crosswalk after she was struck by a vehicle in Rexdale.

It happened in the area of Albion Road and Highway 27 just after midnight on Wednesday.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 30s, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

If convicted of the charge, the penalty is a $35 fine plus surcharges, bringing the total to $50.

The driver remained at the scene and was not charged.

Correction: Toronto police earlier said the pedestrian was already charged.
