Suspect charged in Midland and St. Clair fatal stabbing

Toronto police have arrested a suspect after a fatal stabbing in the city’s east end early Saturday morning.

Police were called to the parking lot of the Working Dog Saloon on St. Clair Avenue East near Midland Avenue just after 2 a.m.

When they arrived, officers found two men suffering from stab wounds. They also found a trail of blood leading from the parking lot to a neighbouring auto shop.

Paul Spilchen, 29, and a 25-year-old man, both from Toronto, were rushed to hospital, but Spilchen later died. The other man remains in hospital.

On Sunday, police arrested 42-year-old Michael MacKinnon, from Toronto, and charged him with second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Police would also like to talk to with anyone who was in the area during that time and who may have left before speaking with police.
