Cyclist dead after hit by truck in Leslieville

A cyclist has died after he was hit by a truck in Leslieville.

The collision happened at the intersection of Jones Avenue and Dundas Street, near Queen Street East, around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police say both the cyclist and the driver of the truck were traveling westbound on Dundas St. when the truck made a right-hand turn onto Jones Avenue and struck the cyclist. The cyclist was in a dedicated bike lane.

The victim, a man in his early 50s, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since died.

Police say the vehicle remained at the scene.

This is the third incident in less than 24 hours involving a cyclist being hit by vehicles.

Around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, a coach bus was turning right from Queen onto southbound Jarvis Street when the driver hit the male cyclist. The man, who is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, received minor injuries in the crash.

On Tuesday afternoon, a cyclist was seriously injured after being struck by car on Colborne Lodge Drive near Lake Shore Boulevard West.
