Man arrested after wife found dead in Mississauga home; SIU called in

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in following the arrest of a man in connection with his wife’s death in Mississauga overnight.

Peel police responded to a call for a stabbing at a home on Marmac Crescent, near Winston Churchill Boulevard and The Collegeway, around 1:45 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a 61-year-old woman who had been stabbed to death.

The woman’s 61-year-old husband has been charged with first-degree murder.

Const. Rachel Gibbs said the couple’s two teenage daughters were also found in the home, one of whom had to be taken to hospital.

Gibbs said she is currently in serious but not life-threatening condition. Her sister was unharmed.

The SIU said soon after police arrived at the residence, there was an interaction between the officers and the man.

After being taken into custody, the man was taken to hospital with a serious injury.

Gibbs said there was no connection between the investigation and a double murder in Brampton just hours before, describing them as unrelated domestic incidents.
