Woman critically injured in TCH fire that killed 18-year-old has died

By News Staff

The mother of an teenaged man killed earlier this week in a Toronto Community Housing fire has died.

Police confirmed on Saturday the 47-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The fire broke out in a unit on the first floor of the building located on Flemington Road near Allen Road late Monday night.

An 18-year-old was pronounced dead in hospital while the mother and a 16-year-old male were admitted with life-threatening injuries.

There was no update provided on the condition of the 16-year-old.

A cause for the blaze has not yet been released but police said it was not believed to be suspicious.

Initially an investigator with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal said damage from the fire was limited to the living room but there was heavy soot and smoke, which was indicative of a slow, smouldering fire.
