Woman dies after being hit by minivan in North York

A 24-year-old woman died Tuesday after she was hit by a minivan in North York.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at Sentinel and Assiniboine roads, near the York University campus.

Toronto police say the woman was crossing Assiniboine south of Sentinel when she was hit by the vehicle.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries and later died.

Police have not said if the driver, a 22-year-old woman, is facing charges.

Correction: A previous version of the story said the woman hit was 25 years old.
