Driver charged after minivan slams into trees, injuring 6

Police have charged a 21-year-old man after six people were injured when a minivan slammed into two trees early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a call for a single-vehicle crash around 1 a.m. on Rockcliffe Boulevard near Terry Drive, in the west end.

A man was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey carrying six passengers south on Rockcliffe Boulevard.

The vehicle somehow left the road, mounted the curb of the east side of Rockcliffe Boulevard and struck two trees before stopping.

Two boys aged 16 and 17, were taken to hospital in critical condition. Three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital with various levels of injury.

The driver faces four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He appeared in court Tuesday morning.
