3 arrested in King and Brant shooting, victim seriously injured

By News staff

Three suspects are in custody and Toronto police are searching for the fourth suspect after a shooting in downtown Toronto.

Emergency crews were called to King Street West and Brant Street, near Spadina Avenue, around 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

A man in his 20s was rushed to hospital with serious gunshot wounds.

It appears the victim was shot in an apparent street robbery that took place in a parking lot on the south side of King.

After the shooting, four people then jumped into a car and tried to drive off westbound along King, but rear-ended a TTC maintenance truck at Portland Street.

The suspects fled the vehicle and took off on foot. Three suspects were arrested, but one person got away.

Police have also recovered three handguns.
