A 64-year-old man has died of his injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on the QEW at Cawthra Road in Mississauga last week.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the crash happened before 11 a.m. on Thursday, when a driver couldn’t stop in time for slowing traffic and rear-ended the vehicle in front.

That vehicle then spun out into the middle lane, hitting a transport truck. The truck driver lost control and hit two other vehicles.

Six others were injured in the crash – including two children.

OPP said Wednesday that William Jeffery of Mississauga died in hospital from his injuries.

According to an online obituary, Jeffery was born in St. Michael’s Hospital and raised in the east end of Toronto. He served as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

There has been no word on charges related to the crash.
