Burlington Skyway reopens after high winds topple transport truck

By The Canadian Press

All lanes of the Burlington Skyway have reopened after a tractor trailer toppled due to high winds.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the truck wasn’t carrying cargo and no injuries were reported, but the incident led to a frustrating traffic backlog.

Environment Canada says a wind warning is in effect for the Hamilton area.

Forecasters say strong southwesterly winds of 60 kilometres per hour with gusts to 100 kilometres per hour are expected to diminish by early Wednesday evening.
