Serious crash snarls traffic on QEW, Hwy. 427 and Gardiner

One person is in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the QEW.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of the QEW at Dixie Road just before 9 a.m. on Friday.
A white van was travelling southbound on Dixie Road when the driver crashed into the concrete wall and onto the westbound QEW. It was then struck by a tractor-trailer as it entered the lanes, OPP Kerry Schmidt said on Periscope.
The concrete wall separates North Service Road from the QEW.
He said at least five more vehicles struck debris.
The driver of the van has serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The left and middle lanes of the westbound QEW have reopened but the right lane remains closed for repairs. At one point, all westbound lanes were closed from Dixie to Cawthra roads.
The crash has also led to closures on Highway 427 and the Gardiner Expressway. The southbound lanes of the 427 were closed at westbound QEW, and the westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway were closed at Hwy. 427.
