Toronto police are investigating after a bomb scare forced Scarborough residents from their homes on Monday night.
The device was found in a children’s toy box in a garage on Scarborough Golf Club Road, Det. Andrew Lipkus said.
Police were executing a drug warrant at the house at the time. Police were told there were three firearms in the home as well as an explosive device in the garage. They found the guns, but it’s not known if the device was a bomb.
The bomb squad, the emergency task force, and Toronto firefighters were all called to the scene.
Officers arrived around 7:30 p.m. and asked residents to leave as the bomb squad searched the area.
The device has since been removed and residents have been allowed back home.
One person is in custody, Lipkus said.
