Police search for driver who stopped alleged sex assault

By News Staff

Toronto police want to speak with a driver who helped stop an attack on a 28-year-old woman.

The victim was walking under the CN Rail bridge in the Christie and Dupont streets area around 2 a.m. on Sunday when she passed a man standing under the bridge.

The man allegedly tried to grab her purse.

When she screamed, the man allegedly covered her mouth, sexually assaulted her and stole her purse.

The suspect released the woman when a car, travelling northbound on Christie, flashed its high-beams.

The suspect is described as black, in his late 20s to early 30, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a grey hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1300.
