Toronto police are investigating after an 18-year-old woman was shot in Moss Park on Thursday night.

It happened at Queen and Sherbourne streets just before 9 p.m. Shell casings were found at the intersection.

The woman was taken to hospital with a serious gunshot wound. Toronto police said Friday she has undergone surgery and is expected to recover.

Police are looking for a man who was seen fleeing the area on a bicycle.

“We heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,” witness Mark Evraire said. “A friend of mine came running over towards us and he said he [saw] a man on a bike and he had a long-range gun, and a girl was screaming.”

Police believe the woman may have been targeted in the attack. Around three to five shots were fired at the victim, but only one bullet hit her.
