A 23-year-old man has serious injuries after his minivan collided with a tractor-trailer in Mississauga, leaving him trapped in the wreckage.
The crash happened on Derry Road, west of Mississauga Road, around 6 a.m. on Friday.
It appears the tractor-trailer was making a left turn when the minivan drove straight into its side at full speed.
The van hit the tractor-trailer with so much force that the front of the vehicle went under the side of the truck, trapping the driver inside.
Some witnesses said the driver was pinned up to his chest.
The driver was later freed and airlifted to a trauma centre with serious upper body injuries. He is in stable condition in hospital.
Police are investigating whether distracted driving or impaired driving played a role in the crash.
Derry is closed from Mississauga Road to Syntex Drive.
