Milton woman plows onto soccer field, narrowly missing students

A 21-year-old woman is facing several charges after she allegedly drove into a school parking lot and onto a student-filled soccer field in Milton – all after being involved in three separate crashes.

Police say it started around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday with people calling 911 to alert them to the incidents.

After the third crash, witnesses tracked down the driver to Milton District High School, where they saw her drive into the parking lot, and then onto the soccer field where students were playing.

The students were able to get out of the way just in time. Police say “miraculously” there were no injuries.

The vehicle then left the school property.

Throughout all this, callers continued to keep police updated on the driver’s whereabouts, while led police to make the arrest. In a tweet, police thanked the citizens for their help.

The driver, who is from Milton, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop at scene of accident, and other licence offences.

According to police, the woman holds a G1 driver’s licence, but means a licensed driver needs to accompany her in the vehicle. However, she didn’t have a licensed driver with her at the time.
