Ontario doctors rally, calling for ‘patients before politics’

By News Staff

Concerned Ontario doctors, patients and MPP’s will gather at Queen’s Park this afternoon to demand accountability and collaboration from the Ontario Liberals.

The group “Concerned Ontario Doctors” will take to the south lawn to demand the provincial government put “patients before politics”. They will speak to the impacts of the government’s unilateral healthcare cuts on patient care and access.

In a release, the group says more than a year has passed since the government stopped negotiating with the Ontario Medical Association, and two years have gone by since doctors had a fair contract.

They also cite the results of a recent survey of the province’s doctors – where nearly 80 per cent of physicians said they felt burned out by their jobs.
