Goalie, trainer and referee all involved in Junior A hockey brawl

A goalie, a trainer and a referee were all involved in a Junior A hockey brawl that has just surfaced on YouTube.

The fight broke out when a player from the London Lakers ran into the Kingsville Kings goalie. A defenseman steps in to, yes, defend his goalie, and then the linesman swoops in to break up the fight.

However, it appears the linesman then punches the Lakers player, who falls to the ground.

The fight only stops when a trainer comes off the bench and tackles the linesman to the ground.

The game took place on Nov. 20, 2015, but the video was posted on Monday. It can be seen below or click here to view it.

The Kings won the game 6-3.

The Greater Metro Junior A hockey league issued a statement about the fight on Monday, nearly two months after the incident. The league said it had suspended the contract of the linesman for breaching the code of conduct. The conduct states “game officials agree to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, representing the league’s public image in a positive light; this would include during operations, communicating with peers, supervisors, managers, and league authorities.”

The trainer was also punished. He has not participated in GMHL operations since the Nov. 20.
