The OPP have just released a very important correction: There will be no charges laid against the driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into a strip mall in downtown Tottenham on Thursday.
Previously, they said the man had been charged with careless driving.
“The OPP wishes to apologize for this error,” police said in a statement.
The crash happened on Queen Street, south of Main Street, around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The tractor-trailer damaged a real estate office and a Canada Post office before crashing into a convenience story.
Ontario provincial police say only the driver was injured and was taken to hospital with a sore knee. Normally, police say, the plaza is “quite busy” with shoppers, especially at the post office.
The investigation is ongoing.
