Cyclist killed in Brampton hit-and-run crash identified

Peel police have identified the cyclist who was struck and killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver in Brampton early on Thursday morning.

Hardeep Singh Pahra, 30, a married father of two, was killed. Police say he had recently immigrated to Canada and was riding his bike to work at the time of the collision.

The crash happened in the five-minute window between 5:50 a.m. and 5:55 a.m., on Steeles Avenue west of Albion Road.

“This area will form part of the routine morning commute for many drivers and we are interested in speaking with anyone who was in the area this morning between 5:45 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.,” Const. Dave Elson said.

“The public’s assistance will go a long way to helping us locate the driver responsible.”

Anyone who say anything is asked to call police.

Clarification: There was some confusion from police whether the victim was a pedestrian or a cyclist. Police confirm the victim is a cyclist.
