Here we go again: DVP closed Sunday to early Monday for maintenance

Drivers coming into Toronto this weekend should prepare themselves for a detour.

The Don Valley Parkway, between Highway 401/404 and the Gardiner Expressway, is scheduled to be closed from 12:01 a.m. on Sunday to 5 a.m. on Monday for annual fall maintenance.

City crews will be patching and resurfacing parts of the highway, cleaning or repairing 500 catch basins, and inspecting guard rails and bridges.

Those who are coming in for the Toronto Blue Jays game on Sunday should give themselves plenty of extra time due to the closure.

During the closure, drivers can use Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road as alternative routes.

To help ease the congestion, the city will alter traffic signal timings on nearby routes and provide real-time traffic information on the city’s overhead signs. Crews will also try to avoid major road work along parallel routes.
