Google logo updated as tech giant moves forward

The world’s largest search engine has a new look.

Don’t believe us? Just Google it.

The rebranding is a part of the multi-billion dollar technology company’s plan to be more accessible and useful to users across different devices.

“These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices — sometimes all in a single day. You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop,” the company said in a blog post. “Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens”

This is not the first time Google has changed the look of its logo. Since it’s inception in 1998, the logo has changed five times.

But they want you to know they’re still the same company at the core.

“Our new logotype is set in a custom, geometric sans-serif typeface and maintains the multi-colored playfulness and rotated ‘e’ of our previous mark—a reminder that we’ll always be a bit unconventional,” the company’s design department explained. “The typeface design takes cues from that same schoolbook letter-printing style, but adopts the neutral consistency we’ve all come to expect from a geometric sans serif. ”

The logo will also be represented in dot form, which will be used to indicate Google devices searching for information or interacting with the users.

The one thing that has not changed is the iconic colour scheme of the logo – blue, red, yellow and green on a white background.

Google said the updates will be pushed across its various platforms but that users will first experience the new look on the search engine.
