Top five healthy food options at the CNE

The CNE only comes once a year so it’s easy to give yourself permission to splurge on those tasty, deep fried, dipped in chocolate treats.

But what if you’re a vegan, have allergies or just want to eat healthier?

Believe it or not, there are a number of indulgences for you at the food building.

Here’s our Top 5:

Wild Child’s Kitchen

With raw desserts and vegan options, this vegetarian booth brings some of the best healthy eating has to offer the CNE. The gluten free vegan ‘Nacho Rama’ is the top seller and features cashew ‘sour cream,’ creamy guacamole and nut meat. Also on the menu – tacos, salads and smoothies.

Ghazale

Touting a menu featuring gluten, dairy and nut free options along with Halal, vegetarian and vegan, Ghazale offers up delicious meals that can fit  almost every restricted diet. Some of the tasty offerings include falafels, hummus, cabbage rolls, samosas and grape leafs.

Eative

No trip to the CNE would be complete without something sweet and Eative offers a healthy and delicious alternative. Their non-dairy, non-fat sorbet has no preservatives and is made an order at a time from juice or fruit compote. And because they make it with liquid nitrogen, it’s a treat for the eyes as well.

Mamma’s Pizza

Just because you want to eat healthier doesn’t mean you can’t indulge. This year Mamma’s pizza has a vegan option. Made on a traditional crust, the pizza has dairy-free cheese, spinach, sundried tomatoes and marinated artichokes.

Taqueria Burrito Bar

Fresh ingredients are a top priority for this Mexican inspired booth. With a sign that reads ‘Eat healthy at the Ex in 3 easy steps’ foodies can indulge in burritos, nachos, tacos and salad. With cheese and sour cream available, the booth also offers up some less than healthy options for those who can’t decide which side of the fence they want to be on.
