Peel Regional police say 10 to 12 suspects have been arrested after several guns were stolen during a Brampton break-in on Friday morning.
Nine guns in total – five rifles and four handguns – were taken from a home on Myna Court between 6 and 7 a.m. One has since been recovered.
A white Volkswagon Jetta station wagon was also stolen. It was later found abandoned on McHardy Court.
“Public safety is still a factor because the guns have not been recovered,” said Peel Const. Lillian Fitzpatrick.
“If anybody was on the court and noticed anything at all, anything suspicious, we would appreciate a call.”
A few hours later, a male was robbed at gunpoint near Moffat Avenue and Tait Boulevard. Police believe that robbery is connected to the earlier break-in.
The victim, who wasn’t injured, described two suspects – one a white male, 18-25 years old with a small beard, wearing a black baseball hat and dark t-shirt. The other was described only as a black male.
Police say the stolen guns were all legally owned and registered with the proper legal locks.
