Man wanted for attempted knifepoint robbery on TTC subway

Toronto police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who attempted to rob a subway passenger at knifepoint.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Monday, the suspect was reportedly bothering people on board the Yonge subway, en route to Bloor Station.

A 28-year-old man who was riding the subway train asked the suspect to stop. A struggle broke out between the two men, and the suspect pulled a knife, demanding the victim’s personal belongings.

The suspect did not get the other man’s belongings but exited the subway car on the northbound platform of Bloor Station.

The man in question is described by police as six-foot-one, between 20 and 30 years old, with blonde hair and blonde stubble.

At the time of the subway incident, he was wearing a black T-shirt with a white logo portraying a hand in the shape of a gun, a black baseball cap with a gold “Wu-Tang” logo, grey pants with leather on the knees and black basketball shoes. He was carrying two backpacks — one grey and one black.

Anyone with information about the man can call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
