Five Hamilton police officers are facing charges for an alleged scheme involving fake tickets.
Investigators made the announcement on Tuesday night, concluding a nine-month investigation that began with a ticket book found in a shredder.
There were over 30 tickets that had discrepancies.
It appears to have been a way to allegedly inflate police statistics, with some of the tickets written to homeless people, but none of them actually handed out.
Seven officers were arrested and five of them — Const. Bhupesh Gulati, Const. Shawn Smith, Const. Steve Travale, Const. Staci Tyldesley and Const. Dan Williams — are facing a myriad of charges, including fabricating evidence and breach of trust.
The officers have been suspended without pay and charges under the Police Act are also pending.
