Public Health Agency of Canada lauches Lyme disease public consultation

By

If you have trouble finding a diagnosis or treatment for Lyme disease in Canada, there may be a solution on the way.

Dr. Gregory Taylor has launched a consultation process to support the development of a federal framework on Lyme disease.

The purpose is to develop a federal framework that includes:
• National medical surveillance: to track incidence rates and the associated economic costs of Lyme disease in Canada.

• Guidelines: to establish guidelines regarding the prevention, identification, treatment and management of Lyme disease, and to share best practices throughout Canada.

• Education and awareness: to develop standardized educational materials for use by Canadian public health providers to increase national awareness about the disease.

Comments are being accepted until June 30, 2015

The public consultation will look at guidelines and best practices, prevention, identification, treatment and management of Lyme disease as well as education and awareness.
