Grandson charged with murder in death of grandmother in Richmond Hill

Police in York Region have charged a Waterloo man with second-degree murder after his grandmother was found dead in her Richmond Hill apartment on Saturday.

Investigators say they were called to a hospital in Richmond Hill around 5 a.m. after a man suffering from injuries had walked into the hospital.

Information led police to an apartment located at 45 Baif Boulevard, in the area of Weldrick Road West and Yonge Street, where they discovered the body of 71-year-old Herma Parkes.

The cause of death has been determined but will not be released.

Cameron Alexander Mossaddad, 23, faces a charge of second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
