Dufferin Street may not be the worst road in Ontario this time around, but it holds the top spot in Toronto.
The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) revealed its top 10 worst roads in Ontario and in regional areas, such as Toronto, on Thursday.
In 2014, Dufferin was voted the worst road in Ontario for the third year in a row. However, this year, Dufferin came in third spot behind Algonquin Boulevard West and Algonquin Boulevard East in Timmins.
The only other Toronto road to make the provincial list was Bayview Avenue, which came in 10th spot. Last year, seven local roads made the top 10.
Ontario’s top 10 worst roads for 2015:
- Algonquin Boulevard West, Timmins
- Algonquin Boulevard East, Timmins
- Dufferin Street, Toronto
- Highway 144, Greater Sudbury
- Carling Avenue, Ottawa
- Radical Road, Port Dover
- Burlington Street East, Hamilton
- Riverside Drive, Timmins
- Dominion Road, Fort Erie
- Bayview Avenue, Toronto
Toronto’s top 5 worst roads for 2015:
- Dufferin Street
- Bayview Avenue
- Markham Road
- Kipling Avenue
- Lawrence Avenue East
“The good news about these five Toronto roads is every single one of them has resurfacing plans — either it has already started on sections or it’s starting in the next year or so,” CAA spokesperson Caroline Grech said.
During the four-week campaign, Ontarians were able to vote online for the roads in need for repair or redesign.
Grech said the CAA saw a 26 per cent in voting this year.
The CAA uses the information to press all levels of government for more infrastructure funding.
