We look at events happening in Toronto for a variety of ages and interests. This week, we have a variety of events ranging from improv pro wrestling, to figure skating to a Simpsons-themed play.

Canadian Music Week
Now in it’s 33rd year, the event spans 10 nights of performances, with 1,000 showcasing bands at more than 60 live music venues in the city. With so much to choose from, might we recommend the Rich Aucoin show on Saturday at the Great Hall?

Mr. Burns: A Post Electric Play
This interactive play combines the apocalypse with The Simpsons, and is staged entirely without the use of electricity. Audience members sitting in the front row will get to “kick back and watch the end of the world from the comfort of interactive couch seating.”
Big Picture Cinema (redubbed ‘Toronto’s Historic Aztec Theatre’ for this event) at 1035 Gerrard St. E. Showtimes are 8 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday with tickets starting at $29.95.
SLEEPERHOLD: Pro Wrestling, Improvised
A fan of improv comedy? A fan of professional wrestling? Well, you have to check out the totally improvised story of Northern Ontario Wrestling’s decline as the WWF starts edging such regional promotions. Especially when there are “SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTS.”
There’s a performance on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Bad Dog Comedy Theatre, 875 Bloor Street West. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults.
Digifest
This event is a look at how new technology and digital tools will shape our future, as well as the future of Toronto. The public is invited to get a first-hand look at “groundbreaking creations and trending content in digital media, art, design and technology.”

Victory Commonwealth Wrestling ‘Mother’s Day Madness’
Yes, more professional wrestling. But this one promises to be “a MOTHER of a show” as the Mother’s Day card features the usual title matches, but also a “Vegan Showdown” match. The Local Favorite Jimmy Gaffe and The Hip Starr Zack Atticus will go toe-to-toe with the loser forced to eat a fast-food hamburger.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor Street West). Tickets are $20 at the door.
