Hepatitis A case confirmed at juice bar on the Danforth

Toronto Public Health confirmed a case of hepatitis A at a organic juice bar on the Danforth on Saturday.
Officials say an employee at the Big Carrot tested positive for the virus and are advising anyone who consumed fresh juice from that location between March 17 and April 2 of this year to monitor themselves for signs and symptoms.
Hepatitis A is a disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus and is spread by putting anything in the mouth that’s been contaminated with the stool of a person with hepatitis A.
Symptoms include fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, stomach pains, and yellowing of the skin — however some people may not show symptoms.
Most infected people recover completely.

A vaccination clinic is being held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the East York Civic Centre.
