Newmarket man charged with murder in death of son

York region police say they’ve made an arrest in connection with the death of a two-year-old child in Newmarket.
Officers responded to a home on Longford Drive, near Yonge Street and Davis Drive, on Thursday afternoon for a report of an injured person.
The child — who was not breathing when police arrived — was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Mario Wint, 29, has been charged with second-degree murder and is due to appear in court on Sunday.
Police say the cause of the child’s death will not be released at this time.
