Police take man into custody after altercation in downtown Burger King

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly punching a police officer in the face early Thursday.
The man had barricaded himself in the women’s washroom at the Burger King at Yonge and Shuter streets just before 7 a.m.
Burger King employees called police for assistance.
When an officer arrived on the scene, the suspect allegedly punched the officer in the face.
At least a dozen police officers responded to a call for back up and there are reports a Taser was requested.
The suspect was taken into custody. He will be questioned at 51 Division.
