Rob Ford expected to get cancer update on Wednesday

Rob Ford will be returning to Mount Sinai Hospital on Wednesday for a CT scan, which is expected to determine if he’ll require a third round of chemotherapy.

The scan should show how the chemotherapy has affected the tumour in his abdomen.

In September, Ford was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, malignant liposarcoma, a type of cancer in fat cells.

Doctors said in September that they would re-evaluate the situation after two intense rounds of chemotherapy to see if the tumour had shrunk and whether or not surgery was an option.

Before this week’s election — which earned him a seat as councillor for Ward 2 Etobicoke North — the outgoing mayor told reporters that if his tumour has shrunk, he’ll either undergo an operation or radiation treatment.

On Saturday, Doug Ford reportedly told the Toronto Star that his brother wanted to quit chemotherapy, with doctors telling him if he did that, he would die by Christmas.
