Cynthia Mulligan’s Top 6 pivotal moments of the 2014 mayoral campaign

Toronto’s mayoral race will undoubtedly go down as the most memorable municipal election in Canadian history.

There have been so many pivotal moments that have changed the course of the campaign. CityNews political specialist Cynthia Mulligan narrows them down to six.

1.    Mayor Rob Ford checks into rehab for a drinking problem, after admitting to having smoked crack cocaine.
2.    Rob Ford returns from rehab and fails to get a warm welcome from the public.
3.    Rob Ford is diagnosed with liposarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
4.    Rob Ford drops out of the mayoral race and announces he’ll run for council instead. Doug Ford files papers to run for the top job in his brother’s place.
5.    Candidates Karen Stintz and David Soknacki drop out of the race, acknowledging they can’t win.
6.    John Tory and initial frontrunner Olivia Chow swap spots in the polls.

The election takes place on Monday.
