Scarborough stabbing sends teen to hospital

A 17–year-old girl has been hospitalized with serious injuries after being stabbed in the city’s east end on Sunday.
Paramedics say the victim was stabbed in the abdomen around 6 p.m. at an area near Kingston and Meadowvale roads following what appeared to be a dispute with a young man.
Residents in the area said they heard yelling and went outside just in time to the argument and stabbing.
They ran over to help her as the victim herself called 911 for help. She was taken to Sunnybrook hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man took off eastbound on Kingston. A canine unit was looking for the weapon that may have been tossed in the bush.
Police say the victim knows her assailant who is 17 or 18 years old.
