Rob Ford to return to city hall on Monday

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is expected to return to city hall on Monday after spending two months in a facility for alcohol abuse.
Ford is undergoing treatment at the GreeneStone facility in Muskoka.
According to a letter the mayor sent to the city clerk’s office on June 17, Ford will return to city hall “in the later portion of the afternoon.”
Ford asked the clerk to change back his office locks by 1 p.m. He plans to hold a news conference at 3:30 p.m.
The first piece of business at city hall will be an executive committiee meeting on Wednesday.
Ford took a leave of absence on April 30 to attend a rehab facility.
Last November, Ford admitted to trying the drug while in one of his “drunken stupors” and to using drugs while in office. That led council to strip him of most of his mayoral duties.
Though the mayor then publicly swore off alcohol, he was later forced to admit to drinking after another videotaped incident in which he used Jamaican swear words and slagged the city’s chief of police.
Meanwhile, according to the latest Forum Research poll conducted on June 23, if an election were held today Ford would get 27 per cent of popular support.
However, a new poll for rival John Tory’s campaign suggests Ford may have trouble gaining steam for his renewed re-election campaign.
The Tory camp told the Globe and Mail their internal survey gives Ford just 20 per cent of the decided vote, and said Tory and fellow candidate Olivia Chow are in a virtual dead heat in the 35 per cent range.
The Forum poll put Ford in second place, seven points behind Chow at 34 per cent and three points ahead of Tory at 24 per cent.
Tory’s poll also found 62 per cent of people were most concerned about transit.
