Ford connected to gang members, court documents confirm

Court documents released on Friday confirm that some of the people Mayor Rob Ford has associated with are connected to gang activity.

The latest documents from the guns and gangs investigation dubbed ‘Project Traveller’ focus on members of the Dixon City Bloods gang that were pictured with Ford outside what police called a “crack house” on Dixon Road. One of them was Anthony Smith, who was later murdered.

The police wiretaps outlined in the document reveal that the gang members were planning to bring firearms and other weapons to Toronto from Windsor.

“The (documents) add to our understanding of the type of person that the mayor was associating with from time to time,” media lawyer Peter Jacobsen explained to 680News.

The wiretaps in ‘Project Traveller’ were used to expand the police investigation, leading to ‘Project Brazen 2,’ which included surveillance of Ford and resulted in the arrest of his friend and alleged drug dealer Sandro Lisi.
