Man guilty of murder in 2010 house fire

A Whitchurch-Stouffville man has been found guilty of murder after a woman was found dead after a house fire in 2010.

Paul Kenyon, 47, was convicted on Tuesday. He will be sentenced on June 25.

Because he was convicted of second-degree murder, he is facing an automatic life sentence. The court will determine when he will be eligible to apply for parole.

Marion Deacon, 46, a mother of three, was found without vital signs in her home on Doner Street, near Highway 404 and Stouffville Road, on March 7, 2010.

A post-mortem exam revealed Deacon had been killed before the fire and the cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries to the head.

Kenyon, Deacon’s boyfriend, was arrested and charged on March 9, 2010. He has been in custody since his arrest.
