Fiery head-on crash in Port Perry leaves man with serious injuries

A fiery head-on crash in Port Perry has left one man with serious injuries.

Ontario provincial police say a 27-year-old Oshawa man was seriously injured when his southbound Chevrolet Cobalt collided with a northbound Ford pickup truck around 12:35 a.m. on Sunday.

The collision happened on Simcoe Street.

Police say the driver left the southbound lanes and hit the Ford.

Two other people arrived on scene and pulled the man from the Cobalt, which at that point was engulfed in flames.

He was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later airlifted to Toronto, where he remains in stable condition.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old Little Britain man, was taken to a local hospital, treated and released.

Police believe alcohol and speed may be factors in the collision.
