A water main break in an east-end parking garage caused thousands of dollars of damage on Tuesday morning.
At least a dozen vehicles were submerged in the flood. The exact cost of the damage is not yet known.
Toronto firefighters were called to the apartment building on Ling Road, near Kingston Road and Lawrence Avenue East, around 2:15 a.m.
They were able to shut the four-inch pipe, but not before the serious flooding occurred.
It’s not known what caused this pipe to burst, but water main breaks are often caused by rapidly fluctuating temperatures. The freeze-thaw cycle damages the underground pipes, causing them to burst.
