Police believe shooting at Brampton home was mistaken identity

Peel police say they are concerned for the safety of a Brampton family after a shooting at their home early Saturday morning.

Police say a man, a woman and two children were inside the home on Pompano Place around 12:30 a.m. when it happened.

“Shortly around that time they heard a loud bang come from the front area of the residence and the male party went to investigate, to determine what was going on, and located a bullet hole in the front bay window of their residence and followed it through and there was also a hole in the wall of their kitchen,” explained Const. Fiona Thivierge.

No injuries were reported.

Police are calling the incident a case of mistaken identity.

“Investigation has led police to conclude that the shooter in this incident believed this family to be related to an accused from a previous Peel police homicide,” said Const, Thivierge.

Police say they are concerned that the shooter will return and are asking anyone with information to contact 21 Division at 905-453-2121, extension 2133.
