Cyclist charged in death of Mississauga woman

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Peel Regional Police have charged a Mississauga man in the death of a 71-year-old woman two weeks ago.
Shui-Fen Chan died in hospital on June 12 after she was found lying on a sidewalk near Burnhamthorpe Road West and Central Parkway West in Mississauga, suffering from severe head trauma.
Police allege that Chan was struck by a cyclist on the sidewalk.
A bicycle and a baseball cap were found nearby.
Peel police’s Major Collision Bureau charged a suspect Tuesday.
Michael Kowal, 52, is charged with failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
