Baird gives U.S. secretary of state a case of beer after losing hockey bet

LONDON – Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird presented U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry with a case of beer Thursday to make good on their bet over who would win the women’s world hockey championship.
The U.S. beat Canada 3-2 in the gold medal game on Tuesday in Ottawa.
As a result, Baird gave Kerry 24 Molson Canadian. Kerry, a Massachusetts native, had wagered a case of Samuel Adams.
Kerry and Baird were in London for a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Group of Eight industrialized nations.
