And how does this statistic help Torotonians?! The more the merrier and possibility of less taxes?!

Firstly: Canada and the U.S.A go by VERY different metropolitan standards then each other. In the U.S.A, it’s a city and surrounding area of 25 000+ people while in Canada, it is a city and a surrounding area of 50 000+
If Canada goes by American standards, the golden horseshoe would be our metropolitan area, and this area is just about the same size, if not larger than Chicagoland (Chicago’s metropolitan area).
Secondly: Chicago is actually barely changing. It is projected that it’s population is beginning to decline, so your quite wrong when you say it is changing. Toronto is the fastest growing city in North America for being a city over 1 million people.
Lastly: Me being an architect have been to all the major cities of North America. All of these large cities have great architecture, but Old Toronto tops it off. You say Toronto doesn’t have any culture? Toronto is considered the most multicultural city in the world…
Chicago is 2.7 and change, toronto barely beats it in size. The grater metropolitan area in most of these major american cities is bigger than the GTA as well. It would be cool if Toronto could be a world class city, but without some investment in culture, architecture and a better attitude, alas, it won’t be.
Hey William, get your facts straight. The city Guadalajara is about 1.6 million and the city of San Luis Potosi is less then 1 million.
Outlaw weirdo, the stats are from Stats Canada and the US Census. The city hall of Toronto had absolutely nothing to do with these numbers. And if you hate it so much just get up and leave. There’s nothing more depressing in life then listening to someone complain so much about something they hate and do absolutely nothing about it. From the way you express yourself I’m betting the bank that you’re a 30 year old university graduate who works at McDonalds making minimum wage. Enjoy your pathetic little life of complaining and complaining.
“Toronto is now the fourth largest city in North America, according to the City of Toronto’s latest Economic Dashboard report.”- Where do you see US CENSUS or Stats Canada in the article? Quit pulling cr*p out of thin air. Also, way to go insulting others as a means to validate your keyboard warrior badness.
I have no idea how these stats were formulated but I live in Mexico and know that both Guadalajara and San Luis Potosi dwarf Toronto.
Those cities are both much smaller then Toronto…
Get your facts straight
Toronto dwarfs Guadalajara, more than 1 million people larger
Toronto is larger than San Luis Potosí, 2.6 million in comparison to 2.7 million.
I am not from Toronto (nor born in Canada) but I do live here now by choice. I have lived in many cities around the world and never found one as nice as Toronto. Is it perfect no but it is the best on a grand scale. I feel pride in knowing that Toronto is not only the fourth largest city in North America but is the best city in the World. I love Toronto and I am always proud when I travel the world and tell people where I live. Most people say how they either know or have been told what a wonderful place Toronto is (except for people from other cities in Canada). For those that feel otherwise I think you should go to other cities and see how much you miss Toronto and gain a new respect for her.
So what ??? Bigger city = bigger problems!
Lol. I have never seen a city so unsure of itself in all my life. One headline is “Is Toronto a world class city?” The next “Toronto is 4′th largest city in N.A.” ……..This pathetic city is always trying to justify itself in one way or another. I live here and even I see how pathetic it is. Also, no offence, but I don’t believe that Toronto is as big as Toronto says it is. These numbers are all CITY OF TORONTO numbers. I could tell you that it was +25c out today and it means nothing without validation.
So move.
I am in July. Wish I could leave Canada all together. Wife won’t go.
